About me

My name is Christopher James Harding and i am not a professional cyclist. I'm not an Iron-man or professional athlete and i do not eat healthily or drink within reason. I'm not a comedian although i think i am and i'm not a professional writer so i apologize if my blog bores you or has too many spelling mistakes that you can't make out what i'm trying to say! (i have been forced to put a "z" in "apologize" as i AM somebody who can't stand red lines under words!)

I am currently a professional football coach for Southampton F.C and i love any sort of adventure or challenge whether it be Bungee jumping whilst on fire or seeing how far i can walk with my eyes closed. For this reason, i try to live my life differently from the socially accepted 9 to 5. For this reason and a couple of others, i have chosen to spend at least 6 months of my life riding my bike from England to Africa.

Adventure to me doesn't have to be massive and doesn't have to take 6 months. It can be a weekend thing like going somewhere you wouldn't normally go or doing something that you wouldn't normally do. An adventure is just a break from normality. Taking a tiny step out of your comfort zone like sparking up a conversation with that lonely man on a bench or eating something that you think you don't like is an adventure to me. The man may follow you to your house and the thing you just ate may taste like feet but what attracts me to adventure is the unknown and the personal challenges that we wouldn't necessarily of gone through if we hadn't of tried it in the first place.

Make sure when you jump into whatever adventure you choose, you do so with your legs together, one arm behind your back and the other pointing forward whilst wearing a silly helmet and a stupid look on your face!!

  1. Well said Chris! Get out there and do it! Heard of your trip through physio Mike who is trying to sort me out at the moment and we got talking about it as I have done a bit of bike touring - just an awesome way to travel. Have the time of your life - ride free... Geoff
